Worldwide Holdings enters agreements with local authorities

PETALING JAYA: Worldwide Holdings Bhd has entered into a waste disposal agreement with five local authorities for the development of an integrated solid waste management centre (ISWMC).

The local authorities are Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya, Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya and Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor.

The virtual signing ceremony, held over a week ago, was witnessed by Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The ISWMC will be developed adjacent to Worldwide Holdings’ Jeram Sanitary Landfill.

It will include a waste-to-energy plant, a material recovery facility, a material recovery facility for construction and demolition waste, anaerobic digester, a research and development centre and a composting plan

“With the signing of these agreements between Worldwide Holdings and local authorities, Selangor will become the owner of the largest solid waste management plant in Malaysia with the most advanced green technology.

“These agreements will also contribute to the efforts in meeting the commercial operation date target set by the Energy Commission, which is in the middle of 2024,” said Worldwide Holdings group chief executive officer Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria in a statement.

Worldwide Holdings, lima PBT bangunkan ISWMC

SHAH ALAM – Worldwide Holdings Berhad (Worldwide Holdings) telah menandatangani perjanjian bersama lima pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) bagi melaksanakan pembangunan pusat pengurusan sisa pepejal bersepadu (ISWMC).

Lima PBT itu ialah Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ), Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) dan Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor (MPKS).

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan Worldwide Holdings Berhad, Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria berkata, melalui perjanjian tersebut, Selangor bakal memiliki loji pengurusan sisa pepejal berteknologi hijau yang terbesar dan moden di Malaysia.

Menurutnya, perjanjian itu juga akan menyumbang kepada usaha memastikan tarikh mula operasi komersial (COD) yang ditetapkan Suruhanjaya Tenaga dapat dipenuhi iaitu bermula pertengahan tahun 2024.

Beliau berkata, Worldwide Holdings berbesar hati dengan kepercayaan yang diberikan oleh kerajaan negeri untuk menerajui pembangunan ISWMC di Selangor.

“Kami berharap pembangunan projek ini dapat menyokong usaha merealisasikan aspirasi kerajaan negeri seperti agenda strategik Pemeliharaan Alam Sekitar dan Smart Selangor menjelang tahun 2025.

“Pelaksanaan teknologi Waste to Energy (WTE) ini juga selaras dengan matlamat kerajaan iaitu untuk mencapai

kapasiti penjanaan ‘renewable energy’ atau tenaga boleh baharu (TBB) sebanyak 20 peratus menjelang tahun 2025,” katanya.

SHAH ALAM, 26 OGOS: Worldwide Holdings Berhad (Worldwide Holdings) bekerjasama dengan lima pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) Selangor membangunkan pusat pengurusan sisa pepejal bersepadu (ISWMC) terbesar, berteknologi hijau dan moden di negara ini.

Ketua pegawai eksekutifnya berkata kerjasama membabitkan Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ), Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) dan Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor (MPKS).

Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria menjelaskan kemudahan pusat pengurusan sisa pepejal dalam rawatan sisa buangan bakal dibina di pusat pelupusan sampah sedia ada di Jeram dengan loji waste-to-energy (WTE) menjadi sebahagian komponen ISWMC.

“Kami berbesar hati dengan kepercayaan diberi Kerajaan Negeri untuk menerajui pembangunan ISWMC di Selangor dan berharap dapat menyokong usaha merealisasikan agenda strategik pemeliharaan alam sekitar dan negeri pintar menjelang 2025.

“Pelaksanaan teknologi WTE juga selaras matlamat kerajaan untuk mencapai kapasiti penjanaan tenaga boleh diperbaharui sebanyak 20 peratus menjelang 2025,” katanya dalam kenyataan.

Worldwide Holdings’ Raw Water Treatment Plant and Waste Water Treatment Plant Projects Enter Commissioning Stage

Shah Alam, 12 July 2021 – Worldwide Holdings Berhad (“Worldwide Holdings”), a leader in environmental management service industry, is pleased to announce that the Raw Water Treatment Plant (“RWTP”) construction project and Waste Water Treatment Plant (“WWTP”) expansion project in Kuala Langat, Selangor for GS Paperboard & Packaging Sdn Bhd (the “client”) have completed construction stages and both projects are currently in the commissioning phase.

The RWTP and WWTP projects are awarded to Worldwide Holdings through its Project Management and Green Technology (PROTECH) Division and both projects commenced in September 2019. Below are the profiles of both projects:

  1. Raw Water Treatment Plant (RWTP)

The RWTP with a total capacity of 32,850m3/d (approximately 33 MLD)  abstracts raw water from Sungai Langat. The 33 MLD RWTP shall be sufficient to supply to all existing and new GSPP’s mills and associated facilities of co-generation (Co-gen) plant, with their existing supply from the Kuala Langat Power Plant (“KLPP”) water intake and treatment plant KLPP to be discontinued.

Contract value: RM42,725,796.77

Current stage: Commissioning

  1. Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP)

 The existing waste water treatment plant at GSPP, Banting is being upgraded to treat waste water of total 28,950 m3/day. The type of waste water is the paper mill waste water with the continuous operation mode for 24 hours to be treated and to be re-used in the GSPP’s mills and facilities. The treatment system comprises of pre-treatment, chemical treatment, biological treatment system and tertiary treatment system to comply with the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluents) Regulations, 2009 under Fifth Schedule and COD discharge standard for industrial effluent under [Seventh schedule, Regulation 12] of Standard A.

Contract value: RM53,471,338.36

Current stage: Commissioning

 

According to PROTECH Chief Operating Officer, Zamri Abdul Rahman, throughout the projects phases, Worldwide Holdings has been strict with the safety precautions, with safety officer being deployed at both sites. Weekly housekeeping activity, machinery and tools inspections are conducted weekly with all workers participating in daily and weekly toolbox meetings. Subcontractors are also roped into discussions related to health and safety.

He also added, “For WWTP, the discharged treated water follows Department of Environment (DOE)’s regulations and will be audited on quarterly basis by third party auditor selected by the DOE. To ensure this compliance is a success, we will be conducting various routines such as management of erosion and sediment control, scheduled waste and solid waste at the site. Monthly environmental training at each site will also be organized together with weekly environmental inspection on DOE’s Condition of Approval (COA) compliance.”

“These projects are expected to commence operation by the fourth quarter of this year. Looking ahead, we will seek to leverage our unique strengths and competitive edge to strengthen our Project Management portfolio as well as to make a greater contribution to the surrounding communities through green technologies. The success of these projects is a testament of our capabilities to undertake bigger projects such as the construction of Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant.”

Worldwide Holdings bantu asnaf melalui agihan zakat bernilai RM343,794

SHAH ALAM – Worldwide Holdings Berhad (Worldwide Holdings) memperuntukkan sejumlah RM343,794 secara keseluruhan untuk diagihkan kepada golongan asnaf, fakir dan miskin di sekitar Selangor.
Ketua Pegawai Eksekutifnya, Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria berkata, peruntukan disalurkan menerusi Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) itu merupakan sebahagian daripada program tanggungjawab sosial korporat (CSR) melalui tiga inisiatif yang dirancang sebelum ini.

Menurut Norazlina, bagi inisiatif pertama, sebanyak RM200,000 telah diperuntukkan sebagai bantuan modal perniagaan dalam bentuk motosikal roda tiga, peralatan, perkakasan, latihan dan perbelanjaan.
“Bagi inisiatif kedua, sejumlah RM94,794 diperuntukkan bagi bantuan modal perniagaan manakala inisiatif ketiga pula meliputi peruntukan sebanyak RM50,000 untuk disalurkan buat penerima yang memerlukan bantuan peralatan perubatan seperti katil, kaki palsu dan sebagainya.

“Penerima agihan sumbangan ini dikenal pasti oleh LZS menerusi program ‘Kasihku Zakat Selangor’,” katanya selepas Majlis Penyampaian Agihan Zakat Worldwide Holdings yang berlangsung di Mercu Worldwide, di sini pada Khamis.

Hadir sama, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif LZS, Saipolyazan M Yusop dan Pengerusi Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf Sdn Bhd (Teras), Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusof.

Dalam pada itu, Norazlina berkata, krisis pandemik Covid-19 yang masih berterusan telah menjejaskan aktiviti perniagaan dan memperlahankan pelbagai sektor dalam negara ini.

“Disebabkan itu sumbangan oleh Worldwide Holdings ini diagihkan dan ia dijangka dapat memanfaatkan serta meringankan bebanan asnaf yang dikenal pasti,” katanya.

Dalam pada itu, Saipolyazan berkata, kerjasama antara LZS dan Worldwide Holdings merupakan satu usaha yang baik bagi memastikan setiap asnaf di negeri ini dapat disantuni.

Beliau berkata, dalam situasi pandemik Covid-19 ini, terdapat banyak pihak yang terkesan malah LZS turut menjangkakan tambahan 10,000 asnaf susulan krisis tersebut.

“Disebabkan itulah kita gerakkan Program Bantuan Alternatif Insan Terkesan untuk membantu mereka yang terkesan sewaktu Covid-19 ini keluar daripada kepompong kemiskinan dalam masa enam bulan,” katanya.
