SHAH ALAM: Over a 25-year history, Worldwide Holdings Bhd (WHB) has streamlined its portfolio to focus on four core businesses. The focus is now strong on property development and management, environmental management services, investment holding and manufacturing of medical devices.
WHB chairman Datuk Noordin Sulaiman said the company had been involved in a variety of business activities earlier, including tin mining, the Holiday Inn hotel chain and Metro Vision broadcast station. The shift in its core business focus, he said came following a rationalisation process. “Our 25 years experience has given space for our employees to learn from the various growth challenges in a variety of businesses.
“This contributes not only to a better future for WHB but also for the people of Selangor,” he said in his speech at WHB’s 25th anniversary gala dinner, here tonight. The company’s coffee table book was also launched at the function, which Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah graced. The book highlighted the company’s key events and its chronology of evolution and developments in the past 25 years.
Also present at the celebration was Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), WHB currently manages assets close to RM1 billion.
