IN THREE years, Section U5 in Subang Bestari Shah Alam will have more affordable housing projects.
Under the Rumah Selangorku project, Worldwide Holdings Berhad (a subsidiary of PKNS) will build two 16-storey apartments known as Seri Aduria and Seri Musytari.
Both apartment units will begin construction in mid-October and will have a total of 388 units.
The apartment units come in two varieties which are 74.3sq m for RM150,000 and 92.9sq m for RM220,000
In just two hours after the launch of the Rumah Selangorku project at U5, more than 600 people registered to purchase a unit.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the state would have more affordable housing projects due to the overwhelming demand.
“The state government will allocate land for more affordable housing projects as there is high demand from the public.
“Developers must take into account that an affordable house cannot exceed RM200,000 per unit.
“Developers must also complete the project according to the schedule otherwise we can take action against the developer and its subsidiary company,” he said.
Azmin added that he received memorandum from unhappy residents in the area citing traffic congestion and environmental concerns once the Rumah Selangorkuhousing project was completed in 2018.
The memorandum also proposed that such housing projects should be built in rural areas.
“There is no point in building these houses in isolated rural areas as the whole point is to enable lower-income groups to be closer to the schools, hospital and infrastructure.
“These houses must be built in the city and closer to public transportation systems to give them better access,” he said.
Azmin added that he would increase the number of affordable housing to 18,000 units by 2018.
Strategically linked to Guthrie Highway, NKVE and LDP, this affordable housing project is Worldwide Holdings Bhd’s seventh project.
Worldwide Holdings Berhad chief executive Norazlina Zakaria said Section U5 was a suitable place to build the affordable housing project.
“Subang Bestari is a low density area with an average of 10,000 residents.
“The area has three schools, a university, multipurpose hall and is connected to major highways.
“Seri Aduria and Seri Musytari are our first affordable housing project underRumah Selangorku and we hope to build more in future,” she said, adding that the company is presently working on another affordable housing project in Puncak Alam.
