JERAM, 12 JUNE 2026 - In a definitive leap forward for Selangor’s modern waste management and sustainable development agenda, the official commencement of operations for Waste-to-Energy Plant 1 (WTE1) at the Jeram Integrated Solid Waste Management Centre (ISWMC) was formally officiated today by the Chief Minister of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Fully developed and managed by Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB), WTE1 achieved its strategic Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 13 May 2026. This state-of-the-art facility is engineered to process up to 1,500 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily. Concurrently, it generates a net green electricity output of 26 megawatts (MW)—a capacity substantial enough to power approximately 26,000 households with clean, renewable energy.
As the pioneering operational plant within the Jeram Waste-to-Energy complex, WTE1 represents a monumental advancement in the state’s environmental infrastructure. The facility stands as a premier showcase of how green innovation and advanced technology can successfully divert waste from landfills, converting it into a valuable resource while robustly supporting Malaysia’s renewable energy aspirations.
This milestone achievement is the culmination of robust, collaborative synergies between the Selangor State Government, Worldwide Holdings Berhad, local authorities, regulatory bodies, project partners, consultants, and contractors who collectively transformed this ambitious environmental vision into reality.
Looking ahead, Worldwide Holdings Berhad remains committed to driving environmental stewardship. With the ongoing development of WTE2 in Jeram and a future Waste-to-Energy facility planned for Tanjung Dua Belas, WHB continues to solidify Selangor’s position as a national leader in sustainable waste management and circular economy solutions.
