Worldwide Holdings enters agreements with local authorities

PETALING JAYA: Worldwide Holdings Bhd has entered into a waste disposal agreement with five local authorities for the development of an integrated solid waste management centre (ISWMC).

The local authorities are Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya, Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya and Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor.

The virtual signing ceremony, held over a week ago, was witnessed by Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The ISWMC will be developed adjacent to Worldwide Holdings’ Jeram Sanitary Landfill.

It will include a waste-to-energy plant, a material recovery facility, a material recovery facility for construction and demolition waste, anaerobic digester, a research and development centre and a composting plan

“With the signing of these agreements between Worldwide Holdings and local authorities, Selangor will become the owner of the largest solid waste management plant in Malaysia with the most advanced green technology.

“These agreements will also contribute to the efforts in meeting the commercial operation date target set by the Energy Commission, which is in the middle of 2024,” said Worldwide Holdings group chief executive officer Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria in a statement.
