PUCHONG, 29th June 2024 - In celebration of World Environment Day 2024, Worldwide Holdings Berhad, through its Environment Division, Worldwide Environment, successfully brought back its flagship Enviro Hunt program, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative dedicated to environmental education and community engagement.
Held at the Worldwide Landfills Park (WLP) in Air Hitam, Puchong, the event attracted around 200 enthusiastic participants, including representatives from Local Authorities (PBT), Selangor State Government, Federal agencies, members of the surrounding community, and the media.
The Enviro Hunt program is part of Worldwide Holdings' ongoing commitment to CSR under its ‘Green’ and ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ pillars. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about solid waste management while promoting outdoor recreational activities in a rehabilitated landfill site that now stands as a model of environmental innovation.
Worldwide Landfills Park, a key CSR project by Worldwide Holdings in collaboration with the Selangor State Government is a pioneering example of sustainable development. Originally the Air Hitam Sanitary Landfill, the site was the first engineered landfill in Malaysia, and was successfully rehabilitated and transformed into a public recreational park in 2010.
The project earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records in 2011 for being the first site in Malaysia to feature a power plant that generates renewable energy from solid waste, cementing its status as a landmark in sustainable waste-to-energy technology.
Worldwide Holdings continues to lead the way in integrating environmental responsibility with community development, reinforcing its vision for a greener, healthier future.
